Streamline Media and Balenciaga Partner To Create Fashion’s First Immersive Gaming Experience

Streamline Media Group  announced their integral part in the development of a special project for Balenciaga titled ‘Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow,’ delivering the first immersive 3D gaming experience to the luxury fashion brand’s Fall 2021 Collection, which is an expansion and evolution of the Summer 2021 Pre-Collection from last October, and making its first appearance last December.

Streamline’s Kuala Lumpur-based production team worked closely with a worldwide network of collaborators from Balenciaga, Substance and Inhalt, Dimension Studio, and others, to conceptualize the project, from cinematics, audio, and streaming elements in Unreal Engine to bring the experience to life.

The way it works in Afterworld is that players choose an avatar, sporting Balenciaga’s Fall 2021 pieces, to live out a hero’s journey in the future of 2031, where they navigate through busy streets and a dark forest hosting a secret rave until they reach a mountain that rewards the player once they’ve accomplished the trials put forth to the them.

“It was amazing to work with non-gamers on a creative project of this magnitude,” says Alexander Fernandez, CEO and co-founder of Streamline, in a press release.

“Their creative concepts had no limits or constraints; it was a welcome challenge to bring this vision to reality. It helped us deliver, and showcase to the world, an advanced interactive experience that is now a key milestone for the games industry in the enterprise.”
