OliveAnkara Marry Traditional Ankara And Original Prints In ‘The Reunion Affair’ Cheongsam Collection

Dec 22, 2021 | Fashion

Slow fashion label OliveAnkara’s latest collection ‘The Reunion Affair’ takes inspiration from its founder and designer Ify Ubby’s OliveAnkara Original prints traditionally printed on Ankara—African wax print fabrics to create an ensemble that perfectly blends the worlds.

A pre order-only series launched on November 18th, the 17-piece cheongsam collection for women celebrates the conviviality of Chinese New Year reunions and the connections rekindled from gathering around a multi-cultural display of cuisines through vivid colours and bold styles.

Boasting the brand’s iconic silhouettes, deftly combining outdoor sensibilities and indoor glamour, the collection features cheongsams and other takes on traditional CNY garbs such as a classic close-fitted midi dress, a twin set of an oversized shirt with a contrasting notch lapel collar and a cheongsam take on a babydoll silhouette.

Other more casual yet classy looks include a romper featuring a standing mandarin V-neck collar, a waist-cinching sash in a contrasting Ankara print and, a staple of the Singapore-based fashion house, two voluminous side pockets.
