Exterior: Dynamic proportion, innovative aesthetics, and sensual purity
The EQS SUV is Mercedes-Benz’s first all-electric luxury SUV, designed on the EVA2 electric vehicle platform. It boasts a unique design that combines top-tier functionality and aerodynamics with innovative aesthetics, following the principle of Sensual Purity. The vehicle features generously sculpted surfaces, minimal joints and a seamless design, even when configured as a seven-seater. The front end is highlighted by a ‘Black Panel’ unit that integrates headlamps connected by a light band and a black radiator grille with a three-dimensional star pattern (Mercedes-Benz pattern). The vehicle’s daytime running lights consist of three small triangles and feature a structured surface with a three-dimensional hexagon pattern. The EQS SUV comes standard with DIGITAL LIGHT featuring a light band.

Striking lines
The EQS SUV features a dynamic silhouette that emphasises its aerodynamic efficiency. The design includes a rounded front end, a sleek A-pillar and a rear spoiler. The black rear spoiler reduces the vehicle’s perceived height, and the C-pillar is positioned far back to convey spaciousness. The side windows are framed by a chrome strip, and the vehicle has large 22-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels that are aerodynamically optimised, painted in high-gloss black with a high-sheen finish for a sporty look. The exterior mirrors are on the shoulder for aerodynamic purposes. Black wheel arch claddings and side sill panels reduce the vehicle’s visual volume. The SUV also comes with illuminated running boards that enhance aerodynamics and electric range. Standard features include flush door handles and a panoramic sunroof with a large glass surface, providing transparency and light in the interior.

Aerodynamics
The EQS SUV utilises a modular architecture for large electric vehicles, combining spaciousness with aerodynamic efficiency through features like turbulators and aerodynamic running boards. Its underbody design plays a crucial role in achieving an excellence Cd value of from 0.26 while accommodating high load capacity and a short rear overhang. Inspired by Formula 1 car underbodies, the running board is designed to direct airflow behind the wheels, providing a measurable aerodynamic benefit.

Interior: Plenty of space and comfort on up to seven seats
The new EQS SUV shares its long wheelbase with the EQS sedan but is taller by over 20 centimetres. This generous space benefits the interior dimensions, offering a third row of two individual seats and comfort features for all passengers. The space offered by the EQS SUV (length/width/height: 5,125/1,959/1,718 millimetres) is generous. Headroom in the first seat row with the sliding sunroof is 1,035 millimetres, in the second it is 1031 and in the third 900 millimetres. Shoulder room and elbow room in the first and subsequent rows of seats are also above average. The second row can be electrically adjusted forward and backward by up to 130mm, providing a comfortable knee room of 830-960mm. The backrests of the second seat row recline electrically: by 14 degrees to the front and 4 to the rear. The corresponding switches are located in the doors on the right and left. With the second seat row folded down, the luggage compartment is also flexible, ranging from 645 litres to 2,100 litres. With the third seat row, the available boot space is still generous, amounting to up to 800 litres behind the second seat row and 2020 litres when they are folded down. The seat backrests can be folded down in a 40:20:40 ratio. The angle of the backrests could also be electronically adjusted. In the “cargo position,” they are angled more steeply, making it possible to transport larger items without being folded down. There are interior switches to activate the cargo position. The open tailgate provides a generous height of 1,978 millimetres, ensuring ample headroom for tall individuals when loading the vehicle. The EQS SUV has a third seat row with two additional individual seats. The seats in the EQS SUV fold up from the load floor mechanically. With the seats folded, the floor is level. In combination with the third seat row, an EASY ENTRY function is standard for the second seat row. For easier access all the way to the rear, the backrest moves forward beyond the usual adjustment range, by a total of up to 290 millimetres.
