ENGLAND’S EXCITING CAPITAL -LONDON

London is always a happening place all year round. There are many famous sightseeing spots and also restaurants that serve mouthwatering delicacies and cuisines that will make people want to pay a second visit to this bustling city. Avid moviegoers would enjoy going to the London theatres while tourists will always be delighted to join any exciting events that are frequently held in the city.

London is filled with many iconic landmarks and beautiful destinations and anyone could pay a visit to these spectacular places. One of the most popular spots is the “London Eye” that is also known as the “Millennium Wheel”. It is Europe’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel located on the South Bank of the River Thames and is the most popular paid tourist attraction that attracts millions of visitors yearly. 

Another interesting place is the Tower of London, also officially known as His Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London. The fascinating historic castle was built on the north bank of the River Thames in central London.  Visitors could take a tour of the castle and take a look at the crown jewels that are centuries old at a highly protected jewel house. The White Tower is also a spectacular historical place which formerly was built to store military equipment and horses. Today it is made into an armory exhibit with weapons on display.

Restaurants such as The Langham, Montcalm Marble Arch and The Athenaeum are renowned for their afternoon tea and scones. London even has several peculiar restaurants such as The Jungle Cave, a fun restaurant. Kids could experience the sounds of waterfalls, lightning and rain. Animals and tropical fishes are also found at the restaurant. The Archipelago is another quirky restaurant that is decorated with dwarf palm trees, Golden Buddhas and large peacock feathers. Its menu includes unusual dishes such as ostrich, crocodile and kangaroo meat. There are even options of python carpaccio, and jerk alpaca cuisines for adventurous diners.

Movie lovers could get a fun experience of Shakespearean classic at the Globe Theatre in Bankside or even learn about its history on a Shakespeare’s Globe guided tour and an exhibition. Visitors could book tickets to the Shakespeare’s Globe’s Summer Season which comprises a series of Shakespearean plays in an open-air theatre from May until October yearly. During winter, performances will be held at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, an indoor theatre named after the founder of Shakespeare’s Globe. The playhouse is built in the Jacobean style and the plays are performed in candlelight.
