After a few unexpected delays and pushbacks, Universal Studios Japan announced on their Twitter that Super Nintendo World would be opening its castle doors on March 18th, just in time for the park’s 20th-anniversary celebration.
Initially set to open last summer, the theme park, located at Universal Studios Osaka, will be a fully immersive experience, featuring some of Nintendo’s iconic characters, worlds and adventures like Peach’s Castle, Bowser’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure and, of course, real-world Mario Kart.
Through the use of innovative technology, guests will be equipped with a power-up band that allows them to punch blocks, collect virtual coins, keep score and bring the experience of playing Super Mario games to real life.
The park will open with strict hygiene measures in place, welcoming a limited number of visitors and a mandatory mask requirement to ensure a safe and fun experience for all.
