Since 2018, Château Saint-Martin & Spa, an Oetker Collection Masterpiece Hotel, has undertaken extensive renovations across its communal areas, guestrooms and suites.
Reimagining the decor throughout the entire hotel, these renovations bring a fresh and contemporary style to the property. Each new project unveils a touch of modernity whilst preserving the hotel’s warm and elegant atmosphere. In 2024, Château Saint-Martin & Spa adds a brand-new suite to its offering: L’Atelier Junior Suite. The suite’s interiors were conceived and executed by Madam Elvira Oetker and Madam Narcissa Oetker, while the floor plan was developed by architect Luc Svetchine.
Revealing an entirely new decor appointed with Louis XVI-style furniture, the spacious, 69m² (743 sq. ft) Junior Suite features a large living space as well as a separate dressing area. The en-suite bathroom is equipped with a hammam shower and a bathtub, in addition to an outdoor stone shower. From early morning to nightfall, the private terrace is ideal for admiring the peaceful views over the Riviera hilltops.
Throughout the suite, a warm and welcoming atmosphere is crafted through a studied mix of materials, including Crema Marfil marble for the stone, oak for the flooring and dressing area, and fabrics by Schumacher, Le Manach, and Vaughan. Gentle tones of off-white and cream complement soft hints of sage green, ruby red, and blue.

Château Saint-Martin & Spa has always been a beacon for art and culture. As such, it was only natural for the hotel to involve artist Agnès Sandahl in L’Atelier Junior Suite’s decor.
Agnès Sandahl is a French creative and designer whose work encompasses both table art and commissioned art pieces. Based in Vallauris, a nearby village famous for its artistic and ceramic heritage, Sandahl has transformed an historic pottery workshop into a prestigious art gallery, where she showcases works by contemporary artists in addition to her own creations. Defined by clean lines, her style blends tradition and modernity with unique craftsmanship, giving her custom designs a timeless appeal.
L’Atelier Junior Suite’s outside fountain and four paintings adorning the walls are the product of the artist’s deep and instinctive inspiration, drawing on the atmosphere of Château Saint-Martin & Spa, the transcendent spirit of the Riviera, and the sentiments she has developed over time.
“For the fountain, I worked directly with grès porcelain, without the help of a prepared sketch, allowing my feelings in the moment to express themselves freely,” says Agnès Sandahl.
The soft tones, embellished with touches of sage green, red and blue, as well as the rounded, circular, rectangular and triangular shapes, harmonize seamlessly with the suite’s overall feel.

Each of the artworks was influenced by the music Agnès Sandahl listened to during her creative process.
“For me, music is an essential source of inspiration, with each song or melody guiding my choice of colours and shapes,” shares the artist.
The colour palettes and designs evoke a sensory experience, where every element comes together to enrich the space. With L’Atelier Junior Suite, Château Saint-Martin & Spa now boasts 47 keys, including the 6 sumptuous villas that overlook the property.
