Whether you’re out of ideas on the perfect gift or feel like getting someone something special just because, you can’t go wrong with the wonderful world of small handicraft businesses that have taken social media by storm over the last year. If you’re looking for that one-of-a-kind thing that can’t be bought in a store, the handmade goodies from these local artists might just be what you’re looking for!
ANATEMORI

Anatemori is a small home-made business that’s all about mixing aesthetic design with sustainable methods. Started by illustrator and 3D artist Rachel Chin (a.k.a lemonsonsticks), whose artistic talents combine every dessert lover’s dream with handmade soaps, they provide a delicious range of soothing soups made from skin-loving ingredients that are not only too cute to boot, but will also leave you hungry for more of their sweet suds.

THE SISTERHOOD STUDIOS

The Sisterhood Studios is a small local business helmed by a trio of sisters —Sarah, Sandra and Samantha—that started with environmentally-friendly hand-embroidered and Batik facemasks and has since expanded to showcase other enchanting products. Each of their goodies has sustainability and the wearer in mind, with the intention to change the life cycle of garments, preventing them from ending up in landfills.

JUJUMAKES

Born out of the desire to create ‘playful and fun jewellery for bold wearers’, JujuMakes boasts a collection of mindfully handmade epoxy resin jewellery, crafted in a little home studio. The vibrant colours and irregular shapes are something out of a nostalgic 70’s dream, with a dash of old school chunkiness that’s sure to be the statement piece of any fit.

PINK&Z

Pink&Z is on a mission to satisfy your colour cravings through an array sweet floral-inspired handmade accessories and home décor, all painstakingly crafted with love by a niece & aunt trio. Creating “functional artwork,” their products are a translation of their love for patterns and colours and embrace the perfect imperfections that come with handmade art.

KNITTY KITTY

Knitty Kitty is what happens when one’s love for cute stuff and crochet has a baby; at least that’s how its founder likes to describe it. A little hobby-turn-passion project that took on a life of its own, every crochet design is a result of endless creative learning and discovery with a personal touch that makes no one fuzzy item like the other. If you’re perplexed on which of Knitty Kitty’s products you want to get your hands on, we’d go with the stars of this little crochet business: the frog and strawberry bucket hats.

STUDIO KITTUCO

Studio Kittuco has garnered local and international attention with their joyfully crafted jewellery and contemporary homeware items. As one of the first few polymer clay and Jesmonite crafters in Malaysia, every unique piece is a result of hours of labour and love. They now focus on Jesmonite-based home decor collections that bring joy and fun to a home!

COSO SOAP

COSO SOAP has been serving customers with creatively-crafted colourful soaps since last March. Enhanced with fragrant essential oils and pure natural oils like coconut oil and sweet almond oil to exude soothing properties and a deep-nourishing effect, these cold process soaps are packed full of ‘glycerin goodness’ in fun shapes and scents, making for perfect gifts for any occasion.
